New Roots for Restoration Biological Integration Institute
Led by the Danforth Center, this collaboration seeks to understand how root systems interact with and impact their surrounding plant communities and the soil ecosphere. It is hoped that this understanding can help in the design and restoration of ecosystems.
Defining the Enabling Environment for Sustainable Production and Trade of Avocados in the United States
A collaboration with the Responsible Tropical Fruits Project team at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) focused on mapping the roles of institutions, policies, and actors in the trade of avocados between Latin America and the United States. This included identifying gaps and providing recommendations supporting FAO in promoting sustainable and resilient production systems and business practices across the value chain.
An Impact Evaluation of the Seed Enterprise Management Institute (SEMI) in Nairobi, Kenya
Under the Iowa State Seed Science Center, this project was an assessment of a seed industry training program designed to support professionals in East Africa to improve access to quality seeds for farmers across the continent. This included a desk review of the institutes’ annual reports as well as a survey of participants.
